Quinceañera Dances

The Quinceañera dance is an important marker for a specific culture and / or tradition. It's a way to showcase how a young girl has become a young woman that has grown-up in such grace, etiquette and beauty! Traditionally, there are at least three dances that take place before the main party has begun for all the guests to dance! The dances are: The Entrance Waltz (El Vals), a Surprise Dance (Baile de Sorpresa), and the Father/Mother-Daughter Dance (Baile de Mama/Papa).

The Surprise dance can also be of the Quinceañera party group that learn a choreographed routine to perform on the special day! Typically the tradition consists of the Catholic Mass, the Traditional Court, the Quinceañera Toast, the cake cutting, the Quinceañera Gown, and The Last Doll. The Quince will dance with her father in a father-daughter dance to a song of their choice! The song of choice is very meaningful for it symbolizes her celebrating this milestone in her life!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Since this is a celebration of the daughter it is completely up to her choice of music and associated dance styles. However, the most popular are Latin Hip-Hop, Cumbia, Merengue, Salsa, Bachata, Rumba / Bolero, Cha-Cha, Samba and sometimes the family will hire a Mariachi band!

For the Surprise Dance it is typical for the parents to drop the teens off and come back at the end of class. This way it is to ensure the teens get the most out of the lesson and all the while keeping it a "surprise" for the special day!

If the lesson is on the Father / Daughter dance it is best to not have friends so that there are no distractions and the father and daughter can fully concentrate on their dance. However, if the lesson is of the group to learn the Surprise dance then yes everyone in that dance will need to attend the lesson

Yes absolutely!!! This is her day celebrating and for her to express herself! The music is all up to her and the choreography is custom tailored to her talents and abilities. Safety is always first so if there is a move that is too dangerous we can discuss the pros and cons as well as go over the type of dress. Sometimes the dress itself will hinder some tricks that she may want to do. Everything is open to discussion and our instructors are good at modifying if need be to best suit her and the dress
